The Guild of Tulsa Opera does have a name to submit for the Partners in Excellence Award. Last year I began the process of getting letters, etc., but did not know the time limit. This year, I shall begin to get these letters together to submit. To whom do I submit everything to?
When and where is the next convention?
Thank you for your time and consideration of this.

Dear Thorsten,

I think you are referring to the Ravinia Festival Stearns' Institute program that I wrote about. This is not our (Opera Volunteers International's) program, but one that is run by the Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, Illinois. The Ravinia Festival and the Steans Institue have several websites; why don't you try one and see if you can get some specific information?

Good luck!

I love both sports and opera, especially baseball and basketball. Baseball is more verismo, slow moving, real time, with real people, and quiet. Basketball is like grand opera -- a true spectacle, more entertainment than sport sometimes and LOUD! Opera companies would do well to promote their art at these venues, whether singing the National Anthem, or simply having a night out with opera fans! A great way to get recognition on the big scoreboards!

Biggest difference, especially for those of us in the volunteer world, is that CrossLoop is free while Techinline Remote Desktop is not free.

Since CrossLoop is a recently released product, nobody has long term experience with this as a Remote Support tool. However, my initial experience with it as well as its simplicity and cost, namely free, makes it worth recommending.

I recommend you establish a list of criteria for your remote support tools, regardless of which product, then use it for a month or some agreed-upon amount of time, then evaluate its performance.

For us here in the opera world, "free" is an important criteria.

Why don't you use a web-based remote control tool? I've tried one -- Techinline Remote Desktop -- and was satisfied with it. You'll only need an internet connection and a browser. No need to install anything on your PC. And right away you'll have a ready-to-use remote desktop access environment. You can easily use it to get access to Remote Support. And no fuss about...

Does anybody have long time experience with this Remote Support tool? We're going to use it for technical support and I'm concerned how is it reliable?

I had a similar experience 3 weeks ago here in Waimea, Hawaii!

The Hawaiian Performing Arts Festival featured Ricky Ian Gordon as composer-in-residence for the month-long festival. Gordon recently premiered his Grapes of Wrath at Minnesota Opera, and was here for his Orfeo and Euridice opera. He gave a 90 minute coaching session for about 6-8 young opera singers, where they sang poetry set to his music. You will hear his compositions sung by Audra McDonald, Renee Fleming, Dawn Upshaw, and Elizabeth Futral!

He was very approachable, and generous with his time to these young singers!

It was actually quite easy, especially with CrossLoop. It really makes life significantly easier.

And thanks for the saintly comparison but I hope I don't have the same fate as the saint of Bleecker Street.
